Paste as Link in Mail

Postby gb2 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:41 am

Uses the contents of the clipboard to create a hyperlink inside a Mail message. To use it:
1. Copy the URL you want to use
2. Select the text in your mail message that should become a link

Re: Paste as Link in Mail

I have just downloaded this shortcut, but cannot get it to work.

The Mail app is forefront, with a new Mail message open. A word I want hyper-linked is highlighted (with a URL in the clipboard), but nothing happens when I press "Control L".

I have tried different hot keys, in case there was a conflict, but no luck.

Can you please help?

couple of things:

it looks like Apple changed the menu name in Snow Leopard. In Leopard it was Edit>Link>Add… and now in Snow Leopard it is Edit>Add Link…
so if you are under Snow Leopard change the first step by clicking the Set Menu for Action button and selecting Edit>Add Link… and resave.

it should have given you and error message that it couldn't find the menu if you had it the other way so make sure you weren't trying it with the shortcut window open. A shortcut will not trigger if its window is open.

This gallery item has been updated to be Leopard and Snow Leopard friendly. If you've had issues with it in the past, try downloading the new version.
