HOW TO - Select "x" number of things in a folder

Postby jman995x » Mon Jul 01, 2013 12:17 pm

I have a lot of folders with a large number of files in them (some folders have up to 50,000 files).
I want to start organizing/sorting them and was wondering if there is a way to get QK to select a certain number of files within a folder?
For instance, I have about 80,000 mp3's. Obviously, if I try to move all of them at once, Finder is going to hang (ie: "Finder Not Responding").
So, what I'd like to get QK to do is select (say) 1,000 files within a folder, this way I can make it a step within a larger shortcut and get QK to open the folder in question, select 1,000 files, drag-n-drop the files into another folder, wait for the transfer to finish, then select another 1,000 files, etc., etc. (all with the point being that I don't have to be there to oversee any of this).

I would use a Type Keystroke of down arrow to select the first file in the folder and then a Type Keystroke of shift down arrow with the Details set to Type 1000 times.

With the Shift key held, that works.

Thanks
