Variables: copy, add, paste

Postby project_guru » Wed Feb 25, 2015 10:39 am

Wondering if it's possible to have QK copy a number to memory (cmd+c) then add the value "1" to it and then paste.

What I am trying to accomplish:
I have a spreadsheet with about 150 numbers in a column. I need those numbers to increment by 1.

For example "525" needs to become "526".

I know this can be done perhaps with formulas directly in Excel, but this won't work nor do I want to do it that way.

Can this be done with variables?

Thanks!

yes - you would have to add additional steps for selecting and moving around in the spreadsheet.

1) Type Keystroke command-C
2 Assign Variable Clipboard = Clipboard + 1
you have to make sure that in the Assign to Variable field that Clipboard and the Plus are lozenges - see Variables in the manual on page 134. Best to pick the item in the equation with the Add Equation Item pop-up menu under the field.
3) Type Keystroke command-V
