Set programs registered in Windows 8

Set programs registered in Windows 8

Postby billearl » Sat Apr 13, 2013 2:44 pm

QuicKeys can open programs, but only "programs registered on this computer". I just installed Firefox but it's not in the list of registered programs, so I'm using the workaround of regarding firefox.exe as a document, which works fine.

I'm curious to know if there is a way to register a program such as Firefox in Windows 8 so it's recognized as a program by QuicKeys. Thanks.

Well, I looked around in the registry, and tried moving files between start menu folders (ref. manual pg. 94), but finally resorted to copying the Firefox shortcut from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and that also works. Still doesn't populate the registered program list though, but I'm just happy to have QuicKeys partially working in Windows 8.

Do any of you know if there are specific settings for QuicKeys in Windows 8? I've been unsuccessful in getting it to work. Thanks.
