Triggering & Setting Variables on Windows

Triggering & Setting Variables on Windows

There are a couple of suggestions I have for the Windows version of QuicKeys, which I think can bring it on par with the MacOSX functionality:

1) Remote setting of QuicKeys Variables on Windows - On MacOSX, this feature is implemented via AppleScript like this:

Code: Select all
tell application "QuicKeys"
set value of variable named "Field_name" to "abc1234"
end tell

2) Remote triggering of QuicKeys Sequences, from an external application - On MacOSX, this feature is implemented in AppleScript like this:

Code: Select all
tell application "QuicKeys"
play shortcut named "Edit Scripts 0_Found Set"
end tell

As far as I can determine, there isn't a way to perform either of these tasks from an external application. If it really is possible, and I just have missed it in the documentation, then my suggestion would be to write a PDF Appendix like the QuicKeys Appendix A document for MacOSX.

Of course AppleScript won't work on Windows, so an appropriate inter-application messaging/event system would need to be selected.
